4 Killer Mistakes to Avoid | Computer Rentals

It’s awesome to connect with you and be able to share a way to avoid 4 common mistakes made when placing a Computer rentals technology order. After more than two decades (ouch, I’m aging myself) in the event rental industry, I know this information will save you time, hassle, and, of course, resources. To avoid the mistakes, here are 4 questions you can ask to the rental provider you are going to use. Here we go:

1) Are the rental dates on my contract the real rental dates?

Remember when you used to go to Blockbuster video (aging myself again) and rent a movie? When you brought it back even one minute late they dinged your account for a late rental. Well, the same thing can happen with equipment rental contracts. Be 100% sure the dates you have on your contract include a grace period for shipping/returning the equipment. The last thing you need is an additional charge for no reason.

2) What happens if (knock on wood, knock on wood) something goes wrong with my equipment?

If you’re dealing with a reputable company, they will have after hours service and be able to help you with any issues. The goal is to work with a company that gets it right the first time around, of course. However, in the instance something does go wrong, you’ll want to ask some additional questions here:

How late are you open? How does your 24-hour service work? When you say 24-hour service, does that exclude weekends, holidays, or times when you’re out for ice cream with your kids? Events are stressful enough, if you can’t get a hold of your technology rental partner, the stress can sky rocket. Make sure they are available for you.

3) Can you fulfill some really unique (and possibly outrageous) requests for me such as delivering my equipment and setting it up in the middle of the night?

There are some computer rental companies that will bend over backwards to meet your custom needs. There are others that just cannot accommodate custom requests. If you have unique needs, make sure your rental partners can pull off what you need–and do it well.

4) Why are you the BEST at what you do?

Do not be shy about asking a technology rental company why you should choose them. The answer they provide should be extremely compelling. The company you choose should make your life easier at events. A good rental vendor will not only take your order and deliver it to your exact specifications, they’ll really listen to your goals and make technology and logistical recommendations for your event.

Now, you might be wondering why I know this stuff. Well, as I mentioned, I’ve been doing this work for over two decades. I actually grew up in this industry as my father was a pioneer in the field. Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved technology and I’ve grown to have a passion for helping people meet their technology rental needs (I know that sounds a little weird, but it’s true)!

In fact, I love chatting about what computer rental equipment brings in more leads, what is best to use for registration, what works for audience response systems, or displaying marketing material at a show. All this stuff excites me! So, if you have a rental need, I would love to chat with you.
